The incredible story of a German brand that became iconic around the world.
How did a German manufacturer renowned for its high-precision scales become an international player in the coffee sector?
KRUPS began as a small artisanal forge in the German city of Solingen, "the city of blades," known for the quality of its steel since the Middle Ages. The swords of Louis XV and Napoleon's armies were forged in Solingen. In 1846, Robert Krups Jr. took over the family business and decided to make it an industrial flagship by manufacturing high-precision scales. A successful venture! Less than 50 years later, KRUPS's success has spread beyond its borders. Krups' reputation is already based on three emblematic keywords: precision, perfection, and passion.
My deepest desire is to achieve the highest degree of technical perfection in my products.

KRUPS scales are a benchmark in every sector, whether weighing flour for bakers, coffee for grocery stores, letters in the mail, or precious stones for jewelers. KRUPS became the number one scale in Germany and sold its scales for over a century. But there was no question of resting on its success. The brand was looking ahead and daring to diversify its business again.
In the second revolution of the 1950s, KRUPS decided to enter the rapidly growing small household appliance market, relying on the two pillars of its expertise: quality steel and absolute precision.
The beginnings of small household appliances
In the 1950s, KRUPS set out to conquer the general public with innovations that were totally in tune with the times, dedicated to coffee and cooking.
1956
KRUPS launches its first electric coffee grinder, a precision tool crafted from the brand's iconic steel. 1 million units are sold in the first year!
1959
The 3-Mix mixer is found in half of all German kitchens.
1961
The Onko electric coffee maker was sold for half a century. Renamed the T8 in 1973, its design still inspires products like the 12-cup black stainless steel pressure coffee maker.
From the 1980s, KRUPS developed its expertise in coffee with steam machines, espresso/coffee combinations, etc. The KRUPS Coffina Super appeared in the cinema in the film "Alien" in 1979 and then played a real role in "Back to the Future" in 1985, where it served as the basis for the famous Mr Fusion, a prophetic invention of recycling! To accompany the coffee moment, the brand diversified its activities with breakfast accessories (kettle, milk frother, toaster, etc.) and food preparation accessories (waffle iron, blender, multifunction robot, etc.).
